How important is it to give back? To me, it is very important. As a kid I remember my Dad being out of work leading to some financial hardships. That Christmas Eve, members of our church showed up with toys for me and my six siblings. Knowing that our community did what they could to ensure we had a happy Christmas lead to my desire to give back; and to this day I always volunteer with Toys for Tots.
In addition to giving back to my local community, as a Veteran, I always try to give back to our service members past and present. This Memorial day I volunteered to be an Honor Flight Guardian for a WWII Veteran, assisting him in visiting his war memorial. The experience was incredibly humbling; after 20 years in the U.S. Navy I was so pleased to honor those who fought before me.
ARServices’ emphasis on community service was a huge draw for me. Giving back to my community has always been a priority in my life and working for a company that has the same passion for service as I do is essential. At ARServices we provide all of our employees with 8 hours of additional PTO to volunteer. This allows our employees to give back to their communities with ease. They can pick any organization they choose to support including their local church, habit for humanity, or the local food banks. Employees have the flexibility to work around the needs of the organizations they support. Recently, the ARServices team had a group volunteering event at the DC Food Bank; we accomplished a lot of work that day and had a fabulous turn out.
ARServices is always looking for new ways to help out in our local communities. Don’t hesitate to share your idea!
